Andre “DJ ConverZION” Johnson aka Akshun Hank originally from Chesapeake, VA started DJing back in high school. It was during this time that his love for music was cultivated, especially hip-hop and in 1987 after only two years of DJing stopped abruptly. In 2004 Andre began DJing again as DJ ConverZION. The name converzion is an expression of the change or transformation that had taken place in his life and ultimately the way he sought to present music to those working through conversion or being “born again” (John 3:3) and the community at-large.
Influenced heavily by a number of DJs both Christian and secular like: DJ Jazzy Jeff, DJ Jaycee, DJ Bee, DJ Lace, DJ Premo, DJ Official, DJ Scratch and others, DJ ConverZION seeks to provide a music alternative for newly converted & seasoned Christians as well non-believers who want more than what mainstream radio has to offer. Additionally influenced by his travels in and outside of the military, he has developed an ear for regional flavor which helps him in providing “Christ-centered” mixes & blends through his offerings of the “Mid-Week Mixtape and Live from Da Uppa Room presents Throwback Thursday: Classic CHH; 5 Minutes of Flux in addition to developing and hosting original programming like: Throwback Thursday; Ladies First Friday; the NOD factor and Saturday Night Live from Da Uppa Room on Transformation Radio 12:2.
